Two new pals

January
25

Welcome to P&C, our new friend and contributor Jlone from the brother blog! It sure took you long enough to send these photos, Jlone, but I’m happy to introduce your adorable cocker Spaniels to the world :)

What follows are Sassy, 16, and Casey, 6. Jlone says Sassy is getting up in age and the family is preparing for the inevitable. “It is not going to be easy,” he says. “Both are happy and playful.  Even the vets find it hard to believe that Sassy is 16. That is until they look at her teeth. She is very spry for her age.”

Here’s both, with Sassy at left:

Thanks Jlone! They are precious!

As I explained to Jlone in an e-mail, the worst part about having pets is that we two-footers outlive them by far too long, and saying goodbye is always so painful. But it’s ultimately worth the joy they bring during their time with us, right?

Cute! The way I look at it is you have a happy friend for many years and when it’s time to say goodbye…Not easy, I know. Just keep getting new dogs.

    Or cats….:)

True. Unless your wife is allergic.

    Or husband.

Thank you for posting my girls. We have no plans to introduce a new pet. Casey may need a pal though. Guess we’ll cross that bridge later.

  5. Sally

    Excellent choice of names :)

About this blog
For most animal lovers, pets are members of the family. They carry around pictures in their wallets and schedule vacations with pets in mind. This blog takes a look into the world of a pet owner: the good, the bad and the just plain obsessive.

About the author
Laurel Babcock is the Community Life editor for The Journal News, Express Publications and LoHud.com. She grew up with a beloved mutt and was surrounded by dogs into young adulthood. She liked cats enough, but didn't really think of them as true pets. That changed when her brother brought an abandoned 4-week-old kitty into the family, dooming us all. Laurel currently serves as staff for two completely adored cats, Stanley and Cup, both girls.
