Babysitting Spike

November
7

Oh joy! Rapture! Got the best wake up call from Diane asking me if I could mind Spike after class for the day, as she had lots of driving around and visits to make, and while Spike is too big a girl to be carried in the car all day, the wee one still needs feeding etc. Lucky me! Hi Spike!11-07-09_1308

As any cat owner knows, the first thing you should do when introducing a kitty to a new space is to show them where the potty is. Here is Spike test driving the world’s teeniest litter box.11-07-09_1243

Now it’s time to play! This is what it’s like trying to photograph a teacup-size kitty with the energy of a cheetah.11-07-09_1248OK, so that photo won’t be making the Guggenheim anytime soon. This is kinda cute though….she LOVED the little noise-making balls, but our problem here is, how do we get out from under this table?11-07-09_1256

Now it’s wrestle time!11-07-09_1309By now you may be wondering, how did Stanley and Cup enjoy their guest? Well, much to my dismay, not so much. There was lots of sniffing around, lots of backing away, lots of me having to assure them who were the true princesses and, bummer, a growl and a hiss or two. They were much happier when Spike was in her carrier for a long nap. Here’s Stanley investigating.11-07-09_1332

Spike is wondering, is it safe to come out?11-07-09_1335(2)

Stanley tries to get a little closer.11-07-09_1458

Well, it’s not exactly like spending the day with Lula, but pretty darn fun anyway. OK, it’s lunchtime for kitty. Bye!

I think Mandelbaum is half and half. Cause I’m upstate fishing and still better than him. Opinion?

Dunno if you got the drift, but Diane came up with an excuse just to see if Spike would fit into the household. I think it’s working.
I thought you were in vacation til Tuesday. Isn’t Monday your last date with Bruce?

  2. Laurel Babcock

Them’s fighting words! I think Mandlebaum is pure, well, I won’t say, this is P&C after all not RR :)

You’ve got Diane all wrong….she doesn’t have it in her to lie and mess with someone like that. Trust me. If I wanted Spike and made it work, she’d be fine. In fact, because Spike hasn’t been feline leukemia tested yet, she was more worried about Stanley and Cup than Spike. She just deserved a day off and knew Spike would be in good hands.

I am on vacation til Tuesday. Ha! and my last date with Bruce is tomorrow. He’s playing ALL OF THE RIVER!!!

    Awwwwwwwwwwww!!!

Yes, the 9th, forgot tomorrow is the 9th, not Monday. Kidding about Diane, of course. Spike is very cute. Too bad I can’t have cats. Wife is allergic. Even the dogs can only be certain breeds. I like “Streets of Philadelphia”.

Phew, sorry ilb, my bad, that’s the problem with online chat, sometimes you miss the inflection….thanks.

I love “streets” (Oscar winner!) but I’m getting a double album in one show to close NY…no wonder I’m off Monday! The River, fyi, was the first Bruce show I ever saw, so this is special….
