Another lovely Sunday

I hate winter and cold weather, truly, and hate having the windows closed for so long. But I really feel for the girls, who so adore their airy window perches and lounging on the terrace. Will today have been the last one to do that?
Just as I was about to get a better pic of Stanley, my battery died. Oh well. Here she is enjoying the view, and my plants are still blooming!

Winter is coming here too, it was dark at 6pm tonight. Not good. Kooki is loving the sun through the windows though, it seems to come through much more at the moment so she’s happy! Well, as happy as she gets
Yes, in winter my girls find the warm sun spots on the floor, or they love sleeping on the top of the heaters in my apartment (old, obviously)...but there’s nothing like fresh air and real sun. For the girls and me!
Laurel and fellow animal lovers – I need some advice – my family was adopted by a cute male short hair tiger stripe cat last March. He seemed like a stray so my hubby and I started to feed and take care of him. He loves to be inside, lounging on the couch and sleeping. He refuses to use the litter box and still asks to be let out. He gets claustrophobic and in a bad mood especially when it rains for too long and needs his outside time, climbing trees, chasing squirrels and just breathing the fresh air.
We will be going away for 2 weeks in November/December and my dilema is do I board him at the vet or do I let him fend for himself outside. I do not want him to be hurt mentally by being in the cage for 2 weeks but I also want him to be safe from the elements, have food to eat regularily, and avoid attacks from the other animals skunk/cats/racoon in the neighborhood. Any suggestions advice on how to handle this?
Also Laurel I almost forgot – Lets go Rangers!
a…..ha, thanks! I have some thoughts, but first I’m going to forward your query to outdoor-cat expert Diane for her advice and I’ll get back to you.
a…I have your answer (and I’m kinda proud for thinking the same thing
So here’s the deal. Under no circumstances should you board this cat. He’s apparently a friendly feral (you should check to see if he’s been neutered though, and if not, get that done) and that’s why he craves the outdoors. Boarding him is frowned upon as a big no-no.
Diane suggests you find a neighbor or someone who will put out food and water for him once a day, in the daytime, so the nocturnal animals you’re talking about won’t get at the food.
Remember, he’s an outdoor cat so he’s used to handling himself there. I think it’s great you’re providing a warm and safe place when needed. Perhaps you can find some way to shelter his food and water while you’re gone, and give him some covered space to hang if the elements do turn. Try to acclimate him to it beforehand so he knows the deal and isn’t confused when you’re gone.
Good luck, and LGR!
