Pet insurance

October
21

You have to listen to this story via the link, rather than read, as it’s an NPR piece my friend and colleague Matt forwarded to me. A quick aside, Matt is the former owner of the late but beloved Bruce, a fabulous golden retriever who I had the pleasure of having met on occasion. A great, great dog.

So, this is a story about companies enabling their employees to get pet insurance. We discussed this a little bit a while back, but I’m still curious…do you have pet insurance? Why or why not?

I’ve meaning to get it myself since I got Stanley and Cup, but it’s just one of those things you don’t think of. But why, I wonder? My girls are only about 3 so I don’t expect any health problems, but you never know, right? And if I’d had insurance before Zamboni got sick, perhaps I would have saved a ton of money (I willingly spent it, and still would, but before I had to say goodbye, it was $2,000 in bills).

I have had VPI pet insurance for my dog for as long as we have had him. It comes in handy, since we just got a feline, gggrrr, they wont accept anything younger than 6 months or something. what a pain. But it is helpful..we are on the installment plan. 35 bucks a month paid via credit card auto bill.
