I love girl cats with boy names

October
21

Yes, I’m a tad biased about this, seeing as one of my girl kitties is named Stanley (then there’s also Spike, who we now know for sure is a girl). So it’s my honor to introduce you to Frankie (black cat) and Vinnie, the proud owners of brother blog friend Anthony M.

Anthony says that, “Despite their ‘masculine’ names, they are both females and love the Rangers! My wife and I refer to Sean Avery as “Bosco” because of his resemblance to actor Jason Wiles who portrayed Office Maurice “Bosco” Boscorelli on Third Watch. After one particularly rambunctious night, we now refer to Frankie as “Bosco” in honor of Avery. The best part about Frankie/Bosco is that she loves to sit in boxes – which we now refer to as her penalty box in honor of Avery.”

P&C readers who are not Rangers fans, sorry for the inside lingo, but that’s actually a neat story…..also, truth must be told. The cats’ full names are Francesa and Vincenza……very Italian girlie names! But I still like their nicknames and they are Rangers fans, so we’ll just ignore that minor detail.

In my defense, my wife and I were both looking for male tabby cats when we first set to get a cat. While the Yonkers Shelter did have a baby male tabby, he wasn’t going to be available for adoption for a few days. As a result, we switched gears and “Vinnie” became Vincenza on December 26, 2004.

As for Frankie, when we adopted her from my wife’s co-worker, we were assured she was a he. As we were taking Frankie home, it became apparent that “Frankie” became Francesca – and I wouldn’t trade either one of them in!

ha…no need for defense here Anthony, that’s for over at the brother blog :) They’re great kitties

Aww super cute! Princess Dubinsky wants me to remind you that she’s the coolest girl cat with a boys name.

I ask for Princess Dubi’s forgiveness for excluding her from the line-up. But she’s named “princess” so there’s a little bit of girlie in there.
Stanley remains the true boy-named girl cat!
