Hey all, I’m heading north for a few days to visit the extended P&C family….Sweeney, Todd, Uma, Maddy and, of course, Lula! Expect lots of kitty and pup pics upon my return. I may post one or two here and there while I’m away, but then again, I may not want to put new niece down long enough
In the meantime, as usual, feel free to enjoy old posts. Thanks.

And I mean serious claws. Dad and Teri are down in steamy Florida and sent these pics of the local wildlife, and I mean wild. Teri says this guy is new. “Normally, we don’t see any gators in the summer. It’s in the 80’s, both in and out of the water. Why haul out??”
Dunno….any gator experts out there?

Wow, it is steamy. Teri apologizes for the camera lens fogging up. Below, some more pretty pictures from P&C’s southern bureau… Read more of this entry »

Ah, the blue grass state, home of the Derby, mint juleps and Jump! The Ultimate Dog Show. According to the Courier-Journal’s Web site the show “entertained a standing-room only crowd again Tuesday morning with a handful of dogs that jumped — into the air, onto their trainer’s back, into a pool — to entertain the crowd and bite the heck out of a Frisbee.”
I love this picture:
That’s Lou Mack, owner/trainer of Jump! The Ultimate Dog Show, performing a stunt with “Rock” catching a frisbee in the air at the Kentucky State Fair. (By Sam Upshaw Jr., The Courier-Journal)…. Read more of this entry »

Ignore the trunk that my arm resembles in this photo, but Stanley always looks so adorable when she gets her belly rubbed…or should I say “massaged”…that I had to get a pic.
The best is when do this at her scratchy post and she gets all excited and twirls around it on the floor, but that requires another hand.
Other random Stanley adorableness (sorry for bad lighting):

The sixth annual town of Ramapo K-9 Pool Party will take place (rain or shine) Sept. 13 from noon to 3:30 p.m. at the Spook Rock Pool, located on Spook Rock Road in Suffern. Since the launch of this popular family event, more than 1,000 dogs of all breeds have participated.
Here’s a photo from last year’s event:
If I had a dog I would definitely go. Heck, I might borrow one just for the occasion. More info and pics after the jump… Read more of this entry »

Marco is an 18-month old poodle/Jack Russell mix. His owner was walking him on Hillside and Halstead Avenue in Mamaroneck on Aug. 1 when the owner was struck by a car. Marco was frightened and ran from the police and ambulance men. The owner went to the hospital while Marco was chased by the police and lost. He had his leash hanging behind. His leash was found, chewed, on Mamaroneck Avenue by Hillside. However, there have been no Marco sightings for over a week. His owner walks the streets putting flyers up and talking with people, checking the shelters, sometimes until 3 a.m. He has a broken foot from the accident and is supposed to be resting it. His daughter, who is 4, is very upset about losing Marco, but they won’t give up. Larchmont Pet Rescue has Marco on their site. Here are pictures of Marco.

He is between 11 and 14 pounds, is white with some black ticking on his back, with two black ears. He might still be fluffy or could now be shaved down. In any case, his two black ears are easy to spot. If you see Marco, contact Larchmont Pet Rescue at 914-834-6955.
(See previous post for 2 other missing dogs)

Just got this on behalf of the dogs’ owner. Timber Z, a woolly light-red Siberian husky, and Shane D, a white German shepherd-husky mix, were lost at the Hastings Trail in Hastings-on-Hudson on Aug. 5 at 10:30 p.m. by the Metro North station. They are part of a group of dogs called The Playpen Gang. Their owner, Philomena McNamara, is an entertainment producer who put together a foundation to help the efforts of animal shelters. These wonderful, talented and expressive dogs have the ability to inspire and bring hope to many as part of The Playpen Gang, however, if they are not found, the efforts of The Playpen Gang may die without them.pastedgraphic1
Philomena J.M. McNamara can be reached by e-mail at lephillaugh@earthlink.net or phone at 917-554-7307.

We all know cats love to bask in the sun, and on nice days there’s plenty for my girls to enjoy in my apartment. But what if it’s cloudy? What is to be done?
Stanley has figured out a solution.
You wait until the dishwasher has stopped making lots of noise and is heating the contents dry…then curl up on counter on top. Instant belly warmness.

I love my Rangers Report fans. Why you say? Because they share pictures of their pets! Sadly, this pet is no longer with us, but she deserves a shout out anyway. This is Sally’s dear departed rabbit, Lulabean:
I also love Lulabean’s name? Why you ask? Well, that’s where the congrats comes in…to me! I became an official aunt last night to Lula Caroline Babcock. She lives in Maine with Uma and Maddy, so i haven’t seen her yet, but can’t wait!
