Care to foster a shelter dog?

July
31

Well here’s one way you can do that. Shelters not only need room, but always prefer that an animal can be at least temporarily put in a home rather than live in a cage before they get permanently adopted.

For example, this retriever is looking for a home or foster family:
So here’s this info from my friend Leslie, a volunteer at the Yonkers Animal Shelter who also works with this rescue group (P.S. This woman really cares about volunteer work. All the previous Yonkers shelter news you’ve read here comes from her. Bravo Leslie!)…

Take it away Leslie:

Jenny’s Hope Rescue has been saving dogs in kill shelters from New York and Connecticut, most notably, dogs from The Yonkers Animal Shelter. In this poor economy, many more pets are ending up in shelters because of evictions and foreclosures and, at the same time, there are far fewer people looking to take on the additional financial responsibility of owning a pet.

Rescues like Jenny’s Hope have become increasingly instrumental in helping dogs find a new lease on life. (Here’s an example of one pup who got fostered, and a new hat!):

They are more than willing to assist, but to continue they need fosters who are in somewhat the same areas as the shelters that are the most populated. That’s the New York/Connecticut corridor.

If you are interested in fostering a dog, whether it be small or large, please consider completing the application on the Jenny’s Hope Web site, www.jennyshoperescue.com.

This from me: Give her a call, huh? Ask for Leslie McCauley.
