Sale! Sale! Does that get your attention? If you’ll recall, my good friend and Pilates instructor is a big contributor to Cat Assistance, which does a world of good in helping all cats, particularly feral ones, and survives on donations.
Anyway, I didn’t get this from her, but thought I’d pique your interest with my intro, and because I love this group. OK. You just want deals. Well, here’s some, and all for a great cause:
At a home on Woods End Road in Hartsdale, there’s yard sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All the proceeds benefit Cat Assistance. All the usual goodies and maybe then some. But hey, if you’re tag sale-ing anyway, isn’t this worth the stop. And if you don’t find anything you like, maybe drop a buck anyway, since it’s for a good cause.
If you happen to be passing be or live in the neighborhood, I’m told there will be signs on on West Hartsdale Ave. on Saturday directing you to the sale.

This is an awesome video out of Spokane. I wonder what would happened if that guy hadn’t been theer to catch the babies! Courtesy of KREM2…
Raw video, courtesy of Jim Bolser of Peak Video, shows Amelia Duckheart and her ducklings jumping from their awning nest at Sterling Savings and parading through the streets of downtown Spokane before crowds gathered for the Armed Forces Torchlight Parade Saturday on the ducks’ way to the Spokane River.

I’ve never quite understood why an ill dog is the standard for saying you’re sick, but regardless, I’m a definite four-footer today.
As least the weather is icky and I’ve got my cuddle kitties. Oh happy Monday. Off to tea and bed….see ya’ll tomorrow.

Thanks to wildlife photographer Teri, mom to Bentley and Beryl, who has also brought us the red-bellied turtles and other wonders of Florida swamp life. These were taken at the St Augustine alligator farm, which is also a wild bird preserve. (Note to self: go there next time you’re down South. Note to readers, St. Augustine also happens to have a place that makes the world’s best cinnamon rolls. I mean, people line up…).
So, I give you bird beauty. First pic, a treefull of wood storks, then gorgeous egrets. Thanks Teri!

And so we celebrate it being Friday and sunny with puppies…Here’s the last of the batch from Monday’s Guiding Eyes for the Blind event. Let’s start with Marcia.

Marcia is being held by Guiding Eyes instructor Megan Crowley (these folks do such good work I promised I’d give the two-footers a shout out).

And here is precious Major:

….but I thought I’d alert you to this anyway. And it involves Glenn Close! I love her….have you all watched “Damges.”? Oh my….Anyway, the news (from the folks at FetchDog):
On Friday, May 15, a new dog toy from FetchDog and Vibram Pet Products to benefit Dog Tags will be featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show. Award-winning actress and longtime Puppies Behind Bars supporter Glenn Close will present host Winfrey with the FetchDog “Chewy Shoe” toy and discuss how inmates train the Dog Tags dogs to assist injured soldiers as they return to their civilian lives.
Through the Puppies Behind Bars Dog Tags program, returning soldiers receive — free of charge — dogs highly trained to assist them in their daily routines and restore some of the quality of life taken from them by their wartime wounds. Inmates in New York-area prisons train the dogs, learning empathy and the rewarding feeling of giving back to society in the process. Gloria Gilbert Stoga founded Puppies Behind Bars in 1997, and added the Dog Tags initiative in 2006.
