Sweeney and Todd, continued…

March
31

I promised myself I wasn’t going to take a ton of pics this time around, but the boys just couldn’t stop being adorably photogenic, so I could not help myself. What follows is random kitty cuteness. First, you knew there had to be a tub shot:

And before I continue, for perspective, revisit how teeny tiny they were back in only August! Read more of this entry »

A tease of Sweeney and Todd

March
31

Had a great week with these beasts. I can’t believe they are only a little more than a year old. They got huge! But are still soooo kitty cute. Here’s three quick pics to tide you over until I can finish downloading the rest. Miss you boys…have a safe trip up north!

That is Sweeney (I’m pretty sure) getting ready to help me unpack by jumping onto a shelf if the wardrobe. Helpful kitty!

Feeding…

I adore this one. It looks like Todd is on the attack, but he was just in the middle of cleaning his leg. It’s hard to catch fast kitty tongues on camera, and I’m always happy when I can :)

What pets write in their diaries

March
31

This captures dog and cat thoughts beautifully. And counters the opinion of a friend who, even though he has a cat, always points out that they have “the brain the size of a walnut.” Thanks Teri for sending this to me. C’mon now, click read more to read what I’m talking about… Read more of this entry »

No time? No time!! Argh….

March
31

Regular P&C readers can only imagine the way this makes my blood boil. Boo hoo, I’m so busy I have to give up my family pet…..sigh. People! So, who has a home for this boy? Here’s Hercules, with info below from the New Rochelle Humane Society.

Hercules, a 40-pound Labrador/boxer mix, was a much loved member of someone’s family for many years. He was included in every daily adventure and enjoyed loads of attention from his family. As the years passed and the family became busy, Hercules was included in fewer activities and left alone for longer periods of time. His family brought Hercules to the shelter and sadly (my insert here: thhppt) explained that they no longer had time to spend with him. He is an old soul who, despite a kind of wobbly gait, loves to go for walks. He is totally house trained and is nice to everyone he meets. The adoption fee is $102.50 and includes all vaccinations, neutering, vet exam, micro-chip, heartworm test, license, ID tags and bag of dog food. To visit Hercules, call the New Rochelle Humane Society, 70 Portman Road, at 914-632-2925. Also ask about the Silver Whiskers Adoption Program.

Maddy takes a dip

March
30

A long time ago I introduced you to my brother and sister-in-law’s dogs Maddy and Uma. Well, as a funny follow up to the post about the manatee that Teri sent, I give you, as my brother said, the maddytee.

There is the bird dog swimming in the very, very cold Maine waters. Maddy, you rock!

You’re weekend’s just begun, and my vacation is ending

March
28

So now the laugh’s on me I guess. I hope you enjoyed my pre-posts from the past week while I was away. Let me tell ya, it’s hard work doing this blog a whole week in advance so I hope you all kept in touch! And here I am even on a Saturday!

So even though I’m heading home today, and no longer have sand between my toes, I give you the last of my theme for the week. The first two pics are of real Samoan cats on, yes, Samoa. The last one is just ridiculous. (Hey, it’s easy to find pics of dogs on a beach. Cats have to get their due.)

Gor-geous! For the back story on these two pics, click here. (It’s not an anti-wrinkle ad…keep reading)

Here’s another:

Wow, look at that beach. Who wants to go to Samoa?

And lastly, ridiculous cat:

That’s all for the week. Catch up with you Monday…and get ready for Sweeney and Todd!

Sniff. I miss my girls

March
27

One very key reason I got two cats the second time around was so I would not have to feel guilty about leaving them alone when I go away. Yeah, yeah, it benefits them, too, but this is about me.

As I’ve said before, the guilt starts setting in as soon as I close the door behind me. My lovely neighbor is minding them while I’m gone, but still. So while I’m missing Stanley and Cup, here they are for your enjoyment.

Yawwwwwn! I can’t believe I got that shot. Thanks Cup.
Earlier, we were looking for treats…. Read more of this entry »

About this blog
For most animal lovers, pets are members of the family. They carry around pictures in their wallets and schedule vacations with pets in mind. This blog takes a look into the world of a pet owner: the good, the bad and the just plain obsessive.

About the author
Laurel Babcock is the Community Life editor for The Journal News, Express Publications and LoHud.com. She grew up with a beloved mutt and was surrounded by dogs into young adulthood. She liked cats enough, but didn't really think of them as true pets. That changed when her brother brought an abandoned 4-week-old kitty into the family, dooming us all. Laurel currently serves as staff for two completely adored cats, Stanley and Cup, both girls.
