The Rock-Wall Winter Classic dog show in Rockland, to be precise. The show, an American Kennel Club-approved competition, drew some 4,000 dogs of 150 breeds from about 20 states. Yow. That’s a lot of kibble. You can read about in today’s Journal News or here. In the meantime, some snaps from the show by Journal News photographer Angela Gaul:

Taz, a hairless Chinese Crested pooch from Hewitt, N.J.

Like looking in a mirror, with bad eyesight. Parker, a Chinese Sharpei from Runnymede, N.J., greets Asa, before going in the show ring.(Gorgeous!) Cal, a Siberian Husky, being groomed by Michelle Macias of Hartford, Conn.Give daddy a kiss….Pippi, a Chinese Crested “powder puff,” gets a little love as he’s groomed by Victor Helo of Bohemia, L.I.Check out this big boy! Caruso, a German shepherd, gets a pet from Stephanie Behn, 15, of West Sayville, N.Y.

I leave you with the winner of Best in Show (cribbed this pic from Web)….or should I say beast in show…check out the size of this Irish wolfhound, Dun Myrica Speaker of Eagle (huh?), from Chester Springs, Pa. Good job pup.

She liked cats enough, but didn't really think of them as true pets. That changed when her brother brought an abandoned 4-week-old kitty into the family, dooming us all. Laurel currently serves as staff for two completely adored cats, Stanley and Cup, both girls.
