Then adopt this sweetie. Her name is Lizabet.

Lizabet is a 5-year-old pointer mix who is currently in foster care.  She is good with other dogs and loves the company of people.  She knows basic commands and walks well on a leash.  She is spayed, micro-chipped and up to date on her vaccines.  Her adoption fee is $125.  Open your heart and your home to an adult dog — they will be a friend for life!  If you are interested in Lizabet, call the SPCA of Westchester at 914-941-2896×11.  The shelter is located at 590 North State Road in Briarcliff Manor.  Hours are Mon. through Sat. 10 am - 4 pm and Sun. 1 pm - 4 pm.

The best thing I ever did was last September when I went to the Elmsford Animal Shelter, looking to adopt a youbg, medium sized dog. My heart got stolen by Charlie, who is 8 years old,a compact somewhat chunky chi mix-so much for young medium sized dog. He fit into my family like he had always been part of it.

And just think, no worries about potty training! I’m glad Charlie found a great home.

Laurel Babcock is the Community Life editor for The Journal News, Express Publications and LoHud.com. She grew up with a beloved mutt and was surrounded by dogs into young adulthood. She liked cats enough, but didn't really think of them as true pets. That changed when her brother brought an abandoned 4-week-old kitty into the family, dooming us all.
