Paws 'n' Claws

The place for pets, and their owners

Mr. Big

A while back I introduced you to my friend’s cat Mr. Darcy. Well here’s his big brother, the inimitable Mr. Big.

Big wasn’t being too cooperative in the photo-taking department, so this is the best I got with my cell phone while he was on my lap.Very long story short, Big is a miracle of nature. He was hit by a car and had gone missing for more than a week, but the big guy made it home, broken and hurt, and Mom poured the bank into putting him back together. Today you wouldn’t know anything bad had happened to him.

He’s a bit bionic, but luckily only lost the use of one rear paw from nerve damage. He’s still the king, gets around just fine despite a little limp, and still loves going outside to rule his domain.

Big, you rock and we love ya.

About this blog
For most animal lovers, pets are members of the family. They carry around pictures in their wallets and schedule vacations with pets in mind. This blog takes a look into the world of a pet owner: the good, the bad and the just plain obsessive.

About the author
Laurel Babcock is the Community Life editor for The Journal News, Express Publications and LoHud.com. She grew up with a beloved mutt and was surrounded by dogs into young adulthood. She liked cats enough, but didn't really think of them as true pets. That changed when her brother brought an abandoned 4-week-old kitty into the family, dooming us all. Laurel currently serves as staff for two completely adored cats, Stanley and Cup, both girls.
