Dog attacks snow shovel

December
29

Actually, after watching this I think it’s not the shovel this dog is after, but it (can’t tell if it’s boy or girl) is saying, “stop getting rid of all the snow!” I also liked the sound of this family in the video.

Get me-ow out of here

December
28

Now, I ask you, does this kitty look like he’s enjoying Christmas? I can’t even imagine what it was like to get him in this outfit. I think he finally settled down just to get the ordeal over with. But I admit, despite my feelings on pet costumes, it is kinda cute!

Christmas goes to the dogs

December
26

But in a good way! Spent Christmas day at a family friend’s house who has six, count em six dogs, all precious. Of course, knowing I’d be spending the day with six dogs, did I bring my camera? No. So all I managed to get were these cell phone pics.

This here is Glen, the only man in the bunch.

Dog having a blast in snow video

December
25

Truly outstanding. And with Harry Connick Jr. as the background music, you can’t go wrong with this fabulous scene from I don’t know where (except I know I don’t want to live there. WAY too much snow). But if this frolicking pooch with tune doesn’t put on a smile on your face, then call yourself Mr. Scrooge.

Merry Christmas from Mr. Big

December
25

The darn cat wouldn’t cooperate and let me put the ribbon back on the way he initially figured out how to do by himself — on his head. Cracked us all up. Anyway, happy holiday wishes from Big, Darcy, Stanley and Cup, Sweeney and Todd, Uma, Maddy and Max.

Happy holidays everyone

December
24

I’m leaving the salt mine soon to begin the festivities (maybe after a quick nap). Just wanted to wish you all a happy and safe holiday and offer a pet on the head to all your pets, and those that still await homes.

Funny and adorable pet photos

December

Still hoping to receive yours, my PC friends, but in the meantime, here’s a pretty good gallery from the folks at People magazine. And a preview:

And no, I was NOT looking for Paris Hilton news while on the mag’s site.

Looking for an older dog?

December
23

Then adopt this sweetie. Her name is Lizabet.

Lizabet is a 5-year-old pointer mix who is currently in foster care.  She is good with other dogs and loves the company of people.  She knows basic commands and walks well on a leash.  She is spayed, micro-chipped and up to date on her vaccines.  Her adoption fee is $125.  Open your heart and your home to an adult dog — they will be a friend for life!  If you are interested in Lizabet, call the SPCA of Westchester at 914-941-2896×11.  The shelter is located at 590 North State Road in Briarcliff Manor.  Hours are Mon. through Sat. 10 am - 4 pm and Sun. 1 pm - 4 pm.

About this blog
For most animal lovers, pets are members of the family. They carry around pictures in their wallets and schedule vacations with pets in mind. This blog takes a look into the world of a pet owner: the good, the bad and the just plain obsessive.

About the author
Laurel Babcock is the Community Life editor for The Journal News, Express Publications and LoHud.com. She grew up with a beloved mutt and was surrounded by dogs into young adulthood. She liked cats enough, but didn't really think of them as true pets. That changed when her brother brought an abandoned 4-week-old kitty into the family, dooming us all. Laurel currently serves as staff for two completely adored cats, Stanley and Cup, both girls.
