Hearing ear dogs

OK, they’re not really called that, but it seems to be the best equivalent to seeing eye dogs. In all seriousness, though, let me introduce you to one of the loves of my life.
With Megan is her new service dog, Prince, who will soon be moving to Megan’s home in California. (Hey Megs, I love the new hair!)Megan, who has a twin sister, Laurel (cool name or what!!), was born deaf. And though she has a cochlear implant, sometimes the thing’s just a pain in the neck and Megan needs a break. So her Mom, one of my oldest friends, decided to get her a service dog to help make her life a little bit easier and safer as she prepares to leave the roost (the girls graduate from high school this year).
To be honest, these kinds of dogs were news to me, though they make perfect sense. I can’t wait to meet Prince when I visit in February.
So readers, I’m curious if you know of any places in LoHud land that trains these kinds of dogs, or if you know of anyone with a hearing  dog who’d like to share their experiences.Â
