Local Westminster connections

The Westminster Dog Show started today and the Lower Hudson Valley was well-represented. Check out this story in the paper today that showcases several local canine competitors. There’s also information on how to obtain tickets and television coverage of the show tonight and tomorrow. I know my two couch potatoes Maggie & Otis will be tuning in.

Don’t care who wins the Super Bowl?

February
1

If you readers out there are like me and only watch the Super Bowl for the commercials, check out this year’s installment of Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl.

If puppies running across a faux football field, bumping into things and chewing on each other is your idea of a good time, you’ll love this. Come to think about it, take out the words “puppies” and “faux” from that last sentence and there isn’t much difference from a real game!

The players this year include Abigail, a Jack Russell terrier: Bingo, an American Staffordshire terrier; Rascal, a border collie mix; and Scuba, a mutt who is as cute as can be.

I have to admit: I tune in for this every year and then find myself thinking after five minutes: “Why am I still watching this?” (Again—not that much different from the real game.) But the puppies are so darn cute!
